Forensic relevance

Security event log of Android's Intrusion Logging, an opt-in part of Advanced Protection Mode (Android 16 and later, linked Google account required; at launch in May 2026 on Pixel devices only). Newline-delimited JSON without a signature, one event per line, wrapped under its type: dns_event, connect_event (both with the requesting package) and security_event (SecurityLog API events such as app starts, package installs, ADB commands and file transfers, lock and unlock attempts). event_time is in milliseconds for DNS and connect events, in nanoseconds for security events; event_id is not unique. Logs are collected about daily, end-to-end encrypted and kept in the Google account for 12 months; 'Download and decrypt' writes them to /sdcard/Download/Intrusion Logging/, where earlier downloads remain. Logs of any device on the account can be downloaded on another one, so files found on a device may belong to a different device. Missing events do not prove absence: logging only covers the time it was enabled, may write fewer events under heavy activity and misses DNS lookups done by an app's own resolver (e.g. Chrome's Secure DNS). Overlapping downloads can repeat events. Private browsing modes are logged as well.
