Forensische Relevanz
Menschenlesbares Property-List-Format von Apple mit XML-Serialisierung. Verwendet für App-Einstellungen, Konfigurationsdateien, Systemeinstellungen und iTunes-/Xcode-Metadaten. Die Info.plist in jedem App-Bundle von iOS/macOS deklariert: Bundle Identifier (CFBundleIdentifier), Version (CFBundleShortVersionString/CFBundleVersion), minimale OS-Version, die eigenen URL-Schemes der App (CFBundleURLTypes) und die Schemes, die sie in anderen Apps abfragt (LSApplicationQueriesSchemes), Beschreibungen zur Nutzung datenschutzrelevanter Funktionen (NSCamera/NSLocation/NSMicrophoneUsageDescription), Hintergrundmodi (UIBackgroundModes) und erforderliche Gerätefähigkeiten. Das sind wichtige Felder für das Profiling einer App und die Bewertung ihrer Fähigkeiten. Datumswerte werden als ISO-8601-Strings gespeichert. Funktional gleichwertig zur binären plist (bplist). Erkennbar an der XML-Deklaration und dem DOCTYPE für Apple-plists. In seltenen Fällen verwenden plists auch das JSON-Format. Fest codierte API-Keys oder Zugangsdaten in der Info.plist sind ein häufiger Sicherheitsbefund bei der App-Analyse.
